How to improve your TikTok Shop results: the 5 levers that matter

By the Qeerah team 7 min read

In short: To improve your TikTok Shop results, work on five levers โ€” the hook, the offer, your posting rhythm, the call to action and reading your data โ€” but only one at a time: the one your statistics point to as the bottleneck. In France, short video carries 61.6% of sales, so that is where most of it is decided.

On TikTok Shop, creators make the sales. In France, affiliates generated 73.4% of the platform's revenue over the 90 days to 9 July 2026, and short video carried 61.6% of it, against 20.2% for live (Kalodata estimates published by Lengow). Across the four largest European markets, affiliates accounted for 69.9%. A creator's results therefore depend on levers they control. There are five, and the order you work on them matters as much as the levers themselves.

Which lever should you start with?

The one that is blocking. Before changing anything, find where your videos lose the most people (the method is in how to analyse your TikTok Shop videos), then use this table:

Symptom in your statisticsPriority lever
Few viewers still there at 3 seconds1. The hook
Good retention, many clicks, few orders2. The offer
A few videos that work, then nothing3. The rhythm
Good retention, few product clicks4. The call to action
Irregular results with no explanation5. The data

Start with the lever that blocks, not the one that feels most urgent.

Lever 1: how does the hook change sales?

The hook decides how many people will see your sales pitch. TikTok Shop Academy places it in the first 3 to 6 seconds and recommends tying it to the featured product (PPC Land). A Buffer study of 1.1 million videos measured a median watch time of 6.9 seconds for 30-to-60-second videos (Buffer): anything after that point is seen by a minority.

Concrete action: product visible from the first frame, promise written on screen, no introduction. The full method is in how to analyse your TikTok Shop hooks.

Lever 2: is the product or the offer the problem?

A great video won't save a bad offer. If viewers click but don't buy, the product page breaks the promise: a higher price than expected, weak reviews, delivery times, disappointing visuals.

Some reference points from the French market: over the 30 days to 9 July 2026, the average price of items sold by the ten largest shops was โ‚ฌ46.26, and beauty and personal care (18.3% of national revenue) and household appliances (12.5%) were the top two categories (Lengow). These aren't rules, but a product priced well above that needs a longer demonstration and more proof.

Lever 3: how often should you post?

Consistency matters more than volume. Each video is a test: the more regularly you post, the faster you learn what works in your niche. But posting lots of weak videos doesn't help; three well-made videos a week teach you more than ten rushed ones, because they produce differences you can read.

Think about format too. In France, live accounted for 20.2% of revenue over the period studied by Lengow: not the main channel, but a serious complement once your videos have built an audience that trusts you. As for length, Buffer's study concludes that video length on its own is unlikely to be decisive: fit it to the time needed to demonstrate the product.

Lever 4: how should you phrase the call to action?

TikTok Shop Academy puts it simply: every video should end with a clear next step, spoken or written on screen, because many viewers watch without sound (PPC Land). The three most common mistakes:

  1. A call that comes too late: placed after retention drops, almost nobody sees it. Say it once right after the demonstration.
  2. A vague call: "go get it" doesn't say what to do. "Tap the product link below the video" does.
  3. A call with no reason: restate the main benefit when you ask for the click.

Lever 5: how do you use your data to improve?

The last lever governs the other four. Without reading your statistics regularly, you change things at random. The minimum routine:

Key takeaway: the five levers aren't worked on at the same time. One project at a time, chosen from your numbers, produces measurable progress. Five in parallel produce noise.

How can you go faster?

The slowest part of this method isn't fixing things: it is understanding why a video loses people. Qeerah analyses a video from its link and scores the hook, retention, sales pitch, emotion, conversion and algorithm signals, with the second attention drops and the fixes to apply. You can use it on your own videos and on the ones that sell in your niche, to see the gap.

Frequently asked questions

How do I increase my sales on TikTok Shop?

First find where your videos lose buyers: hook, retention, product click or conversion. Then work on the matching lever โ€” hook, offer, rhythm, call to action or data โ€” one change at a time, measured across several videos.

Video or live: what sells more on TikTok Shop?

In France, over the 90 days to 9 July 2026, video carried 61.6% of TikTok Shop revenue, live 20.2% and the product card alone 18.2%, according to Kalodata estimates published by Lengow. Video remains the main channel; live is a complement.

Why do I get clicks but no sales on TikTok Shop?

When viewers click without buying, the problem is usually the product page rather than the video: a higher price than expected, weak reviews, delivery times or an exaggerated promise in the video. Change the product or adjust the promise.
